Lately, we have been inundated with inquiries on how to protect leads from high temperature – above 900°F. We have stages of protection that are listed below in order of temperature. At the high end of the temperature spectrum, beads over leads provide the ultimate protection from the punishing effects of temperatures above 900F.
Ceramic ball and socket fish spine beads, see cross section below, are concave on one end and convex on the other. When strung together, the unique shape of the beads locks together while being able to flex, twist or bend and still maintain insulation. Bead over lead is a common option for vacuum installations too.
