Pfannenberg is a manufacturer of products for thermal management of electrical enclosures. In business for over 60 years, their products groups are filter/fans, air conditioners/cooling units, air-air heat exchangers, air-water heat exchangers, water-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, thermostats and hygrostats. These products range from circulating filtered ambient air though the enclosure, to closed-loop circulation of cooled interior air. Pfannenberg heaters and respective controls are to mitigate the damaging impact of high humidity on critical electrical products within the enclosure. Pfannenberg offers both new units, as well as replacement parts for older, existing units.
One of many Pfannenberg products is the PWS Series Air/Water heat exchanger. This family of products is for removing heat from an electrical enclosure through a transfer of that heat to a liquid medium. The liquid medium is thereby transferred to a remote location where the heat can be dissipated. Unlike air conditioners/coolers, the advantage of this system is that it adds no heat to the area where the enclosure is installed, and can be used where the ambient air where the enclosure is installed may be contaminated, or at temperatures higher than the desired internal enclosure temperature.
The Pfannenberg PWS Series of Air/Water heat exchangers is offered in various capacity units from 2218 Btu/h up to 3242 BTuuu/h. For each offering, generally various operating voltages are available, in either 115, 230, or 460 vac. The Pfannenberg PWS Series are rated indoor/outdoor, with variations in Nema ratings, accordingly.
