Hyde Park is a manufacturer of ultra-sonic sensors and their accessories. The company was founded in 1958, and now has likely the most complete, most sophisticated line of ultra-sonics sensors with the functionality uncommon in the industry.
The basic form of products that Hyde Park offers is proximity mode, and through-beam mode. Proximity mode verifies target present by a return echo from the target itself, or in the background mode, absence of a return echo from the background. Through-beam mode is using a separate sender and separate receiver, and the target is detected by the loss of the signal reaching the receiver. Both modes have their advantages and trade-offs. For almost every proximity mode sensor Hyde Park offers, there is a corresponding through-beam model of the same physical form. Hyde Park is located in Dayton, OH.
With the introduction of the XXV18 Volksense Series, Hyde Park introduced a very unique product to address a very common problem that industry has had with inductive proximity switches. Inductive proximity switches work great in some of the most demanding applications, but their disadvantage is their relatively limited sensing range. Sensing range is proportional to their sensor face diameter, and has significant derating curves for any material other than ferrous content targets. Users of inductive products typically have to make a trade-off between required sensing range, and physical constraints that limit the size of the sensor.
The Hyde Park Volksense is an ultra-sonic sensor solves designed to directly replace most applications where these limitations of limit the use of inductive proximity switches. Given that the technology is ultra-sonic, there are no derating curves, so effectively all legitimate targets are sensed equally well. This includes steel, copper, brass, aluminum, bronze, etc…. The Hyde Park Volksense, with its ultra-sonic source, is well suited for dirty, dusty environments. The sensor is Nema 4x/Ip67 hose-down/wash-down.
The Hyde Park Volksense, has a sensing range from 2 mm to 2 inches. It has a 18 mm diameter nickel-plated brass housing, is available in either NPN or PNP discrete outputs, NO or NC outputs, and potted cable or quick-disconnect, by part number. The Hyde Park Volksense has no adjustments, so installation is easy. With its sensing to 2 inches, there is no concern for the target hitting the face of the sensor. The Volksense is one of the lower-cost/cost-effective products for solving a real, traditional problem.
