Hyde Park Ignoring Closer Targets

Hyde Park Ultrasonic Sensors

Challenge:

When using typical ultrasonic sensors, in part due to their inherently wide effective beams, if there is some other object in the effective beam path, which is closer than the near limit of the sensing window, but not totally obstructing the beam path to the intended target, then the sensor may see the that closer object only, and not be able to sense the intended target in the sensing window beyond.  In what was even more challenging for our actual application, the target was beyond a loose-mesh screen whose surface was perpendicular to the beam’s path, and totally in the sensors effective beam path.   In this situation, the sensor had to look through the screen, which provided a strong return echo, and determine if the intended target, that was beyond the screen, was present or not.

Solution:

Because our Hyde Park sensors have advanced features, we were able to program our them to ignore the first return echo that originated from the screen, regardless of its amplitude.  Therefore, we were able to ignore the screen, and sense if the target was in position beyond the screen, and easily and reliably to solve the customer’s application.

Net Value to our Customers:

If you have an easy or more challenging type application, give us a call.  Chances are we may have either the sensor and/or the experience to solve it.  Excel Automation, and Eagle Sensors & Controls, have years of experience, and are application-oriented Authorized Distributors of numerous products for Industrial Automation and LED Lighting.
