Microsonic is a manufacturer of ultra-sonic sensors. The y offer numerous models which operate in the proximity mode, and some in the through-beam mode. Proximity mode verifies target present by a return echo from the target itself, or in the background mode, absence of a return echo from the background. Through-beam mode is using a separate sender and separate receiver, and the target is detected by the loss of the signal reaching the receiver. Both modes have their advantages and trade-offs when used in industrial applications.
The Microsonic MIC+ Series is a very diverse family of 30 mm diameter ultra-sonic proximity mode sensors. The Microsonic MIC+ Series is identified with its unique, built-in LED digital display, and 2 pushbuttons, and LED indicators.
The LED digital display is an aid in initial programming of the sensor, and its on-going performance with respect to the target. The LED display indicates if the output is displaying mm or cm distance to the target. On the Microsonic models that have both analog and discrete outputs, the one pushbutton sets the discrete near or far limits, while the other pushbutton sets the analog span limits.
Most discrete Micorsonic models are available in variations of both NPN and PNP, depending on the family selected. Quick-disconnect is offered on all models.
Microsonic analog models are offered in 0-10 v or 4-20 ma output, and by part number are either direct or inverse operation of the analog signal.
Microsonic, with its ultra-sonic source, senses all legitimate targets equally well, and is well suited for dirty, dusty environments. Because of the range of models, with up to 8 meters max, coupled with analog or discrete output, the Microsonic MIC+ Series is typically used for target presence, product counting, product level control, roll diameter, and web loop control. The MIC+ Series sensor is Nema 4X/IP-67 hose-down/wash-down, and is well suited for the demanding applications of the Food & Beverage industry.
