Cables or pipes that pass through any barrier should be sealed at their point of passing to protect the integrity of that transition and avoid any destructive consequences. Typical concerns include the ingress of dirt, dust, and moisture, occasionally gas pressure, water pressure, or fire. When the barrier is an outdoor installation, sealing is also essential to prevent the entry of rodents, snakes, and insects. Many competitive sealing systems, because of their design, are dedicated to a single, narrow range of cable or pipe diameters, and do not allow flexibility for unexpected future needs.
Roxtec offers the most unique cable and pipe sealing systems. Manufactured in Sweden, they are a global player, and have numerous products and for virtually any application in nearly every industry in the world. One of the most significant features of all Roxtec Sealing products is the use of a multi-diameter design. This Roxtec multi-diameter design, for any given point of cable or pipe entry, will accept a wide range of cable or pipe (outer) diameters. Roxtec has products whose seal will accept either a single cable or pipe or multiple cables or pipes in the same “frame”. Almost all of the Roxtec sealing product have a device for putting the inner sealing module or modules, into compression. Depending on the selected product family, typical ratings of IP66/67, NEMA 4, 4x, 12, 13, Fire. Water pressure and Gas pressure are available.
One of the most recent product families is the Roxtec EZ-Entry Series. The Roxtec EZ-Entry Series is primarily designed for use on electrical enclosures. The significant features of this product family, relative to the other legacy Roxtec products are:
- its frame is a composite (non-metallic; non-corrosive) material, structurally reinforced, with sealing modules integrated into it.
- It is a lighter weight than the legacy metal frames, so less shipping cost for OEM’s and End Users.
- The product is single-sided (installed on the exterior side of the electrical enclosure), so it occupies no space within the enclosure.
- It is the lowest cost system from Roxtec for its capabilities.
- It is a “complete kit”, by part number, to include outer frame, inner modules, and mounting hardware.
Of the six [6] different models, only the smallest, EZ-Entry 4 mini/4, has no integrated compression device and is rated at a lesser rating of IP55, NEMA 12, 13. All six [6] models have capabilities of accepting anything from a single cable or pipe, to multiple. In the overall family of EZ-Entry Series, the least number of cables is they accept is from 1-4, and depending on model size, all the way up to accepting 1-32 cables or pipes, all in a single frame.
Depending on the specific model selected, the Roxtec EZ-Entry Series accepts cables or pipes either in the 0.138-0.413”, 0.138-.650”, or 0.374-1.280” O.D. range.
