Tri-Tronics is a manufacturer of photoelectric sensors, fiber-optics, control modules, and accessories. Tri-Tronics is located in Tampa, Florida, and has been in business since 1954. Their product line is very diverse in functionality, from fully-featured products to cost-effective products with no frills. While some of Tri-Tronics products are for general purpose, they have many products dedicated for specific applications. Excel Automation LLC, and Eagle Sensors and Controls (a division of Excel Automation), have both been Authorized Distributors for Tri-Tronics for over 30 years each.
One of the most popular, dedicated photoelectric products from Tri-Tronics is the Retro-Smart sensor. The Tri-Tronics Retro-Smart sensor is designed specifically for sensing any and all clear objects, perhaps the most challenging of industrial applications. This includes clear glass, clear plastic bottles and films. It will reliably sense these objects from leading-edge through to trailing-edge, without any customary burn-through, independent of clarity. It will also sense opaque and translucent objects, as they are less challenging than clear objects. The Tri-Tronics Retro-Smart sensor It is used only with a reflector on the opposite side of the object being sensed. The initial set-up is fully automatic, and only show the sensor the reflector during this procedure. The Tri-Tronics Retro-Smart sensor also has an selectable feature, called LST. With this LST feature enabled, the sensor will automatically self-adjust for a deteriorating signal level due to either dust or dirt on the sensor or reflector over time, or a reflector that becomes miss-aligned, within reason. The sensor also has a remote Auto-set feature, so the sensor could be initialized from on-board the sensor, or from remote. The Tri-Tronics Retro-Smart sensor also has a 8 LED Contrast Indicator, to visually see how well the sensor is sensing the target, with respect to its switching point/threshold. The operation in either light operate or dark operate is enabled in the sensor menu. It has both NPN and PNP outputs, by wire selection.
